Sinbundang line is Korea’s first private-sector proposed railway project and the first driverless subway. By taking charge of the entire process, from planning to designing, fund supply, construction, and operations, Doosan E&C contributed to the development of Korea’s railway technologies. When the line is expanded from Jeongja to Gwangyo and from Yongsan to Gangnam, Doosan E&C will be overseeing a railway project of about 40 km, securing its capabilities as the industry’s best private-invested railway project.
SOC Business Seo-Suwon Uiwang Road

As a long-desired project of Gyeonggi-do, the project was launched to connect the expressway among Seo-Suwon, Osan, and Pyeontaek to secure a metropolitan traffic system and to build a highway that connects Seoul to its southwest area. Despite the tight construction period, Doosan E&C temporarily opened the road on two occasions for the convenience of users, both of which were successful and showed Doosan E&C consideration for the client.

The 2nd Gyeongin Expressway was initiated to relieve the traffic congestion on the existing Gyeongin Expressway and to expand social overhead capital, which is the key to economic growth. By constructing another expressway, Doosan E&C resolved the traffic congestion in the city and Gyeongin areas, and prepared the way for the era of the west coast.

As the first expressway construction of Doosan E&C, this project placed Doosan E&C at the top of expressway construction and paved the way for many more expressway projects. This was also the first project where technical experts were involved for a construction supervision system to increase the quality of construction.

The Seoul Ring Expressway is an 8-lane expressway of 127.6 km that connects the outskirts of Seoul to the ring to address urban traffic congestion and to provide a comprehensive transportation system in the metropolitan area. Despite the project’s complex multi-trade environment, there was zero accident to the completion, and it received various awards for quality and safe management.

Doosan E&C participated in this project as a joint shareholder along with Egis, a prominent developer and operator of toll roads in France, and Singapore’s Huahong Construction (currently Space Company), a real estate investment specialized company. By doing so, Doosan E&C was able to attract foreign investment for a private investment project for the first time in Korea.

The location of the Subway Line 9 (Zone 909) Project involved one of the three large-diameter shield tunnels that existed in Korea. This was the third shield construction project attempted, following the Gwangju subway (Zone 1-1)’s EPB-method shield and the slurry-typed shield of the Busan subway (Zone 230)’s underpassing tunnel. For the Seoul subway, this was the first attempted shield construction.

By constructing Kyungbu High-Speed Railway (Zone 14-1), Doosan E&C participated in all of the starting and ending of the large-sized national project of Kyungbu High-Speed Railways. Furthermore, Doosan E&C earned the achievement of Geumjeong Tunnel, the longest tunnel in Korea. Not only that, Doosan is proud to set the record as the high-speed railway project developer for the longest period.

The purpose of the project was to solve Busan’s terrible traffic congestion, promote balanced growth within the city, and to successfully host the 2002 Asian Game. For this, Doosan E&C applied the non-vibrant blast method and Korea’s first shield tunnel method (slurry press balance) to minimize public complaints and environment destruction.

Known as the traffic revolution of the 21st century, the Kyungbu High-Speed Railway was the largest national project since the Dangun era. By participating in the construction of Zone 1, the starting point of a high-speed railway, Doosan E&C was able to secure advanced technical skills, and this became the base for Doosan E&C as the highest number of projects accomplished for high-speed railway construction.

The Donggang Bridge is Korea’s first single-plane, Y-shaped, cable-stayed concrete bridge. Doosan E&C considered the regional characteristics of Yeongwol for the bridge design, reflecting the historical background of the sad story of King Danjong. Throughout the construction period, much attention was paid to environment-friendly construction to minimize any impact on the clean environment of Donggang.

The Incheon Suspension Bridge Project was initiated to secure an effective traffic network among the Incheon International Airport, the hub airport of Northeast Asia; Songdo New City, Incheon FEZ; and the existing expressway network. For the first time in Korea, Doosan E&C built the bridge using the saddle-method extradosed technique and hollow V-Shape P.S.C. Box. Recognized for its contribution to the affairs of land, transport, and maritime, Doosan E&C receive the Prime Minister’s Citation and the Citation of the Minister of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.

As a long-desired project of Wando residents, the Suspension Bridge Construction Project that connects Wando and Sinjido is a large-scale bridge project of 160 m. Thanks to the project, it only takes 4 minutes from Wando to Sinjido, which used to take 30 minutes, vitalizing regional economy and saving distribution costs.
River Conservation Work Nakdong River (Zone 32)

Environmental Plant Goyang Wonneung Sewage Treatment Plant

For the Goyang Wonneung Sewage Treatment Plant, a facility was set up and managed to reduce any source of pollution and any environmental loss to continually improve the awareness for autonomous environmental management. Furthermore, efforts were continously made to be prepared for and to minimize any possible source of contamination by area during construction. The project received an Environment-Friendly Construction Location Certification and an award for environment-friendly project site.
